They Are Not Stars

Hello Friends,

I just received a really cool stamp sentiment. It's from the stamp selection over at Verses Rubber Stamps. The verse talks of stars and heaven and love and....... well wait, just click here  and scroll down to QQ0821-F to read the verse. I know you will love this one.

Well since the card speaks of stars, I used my nested stars dies to cut out a star on the right side edge of the panel.I actually went off the edge. Then still using the dies, I cut star shapes out of transparent double sided adhesive. I attached those to the panel and peeled off the protective covering and covered that adhesive shape with a beautiful silvery glitter. Next I stamped the verse on a separate smaller panel in VersaMark, and heat embossed with a silver detail embossing powder. I layered that panel on top of a silver mirror piece of card stock and then attached the verse panel to the card panel. Then I used dimensional foam to mount this larger panel on the front of the card.

The last thing I did was to cut a star adhesive piece and nested it inside that star cutout area.It was then covered with the silvery glitter.

Here is a closer view of that star cut out area on the card.

Notice I added a star shape inside that cut out area.
It's actually attached on the card front base, underneath the card panel.
I love that dimensional effect!!

    Happy Moments

    Hello Friends,

How is your week going so far?? Good I hope. Mine is going, oh, just OK......

Here are 2 funny stories on my Tuesday. I wrote this post Sunday nite to go live Tues nite at midnight. I had added at the end, in my sign off, a blurb about the holiday weekend and stay safe. Well as I looked at my calendar today, I noticed that Labor Day is not this weekend, but NEXT WEEKEND. DUH!! Labor Day runs late this year and I was not catching that for some reason.  So I changed my sign off. Hope you are on track with today's date and when the holiday is etc.  LOL

Then today right before leaving to make it to my appointments I had an issue with my keyless entry on the car and all I wanted to do was to change batteries and well that turned into a disaster. After making it to my  two appointments, I went to the dealership to have them show me what I was doing wrong. They showed me and changed my battery and now I will be able to make that battery change the next time. That battery lasts about 2 years so we will have to wait and see if I remember how to do that 2 years from now. LOL

OK, OK  Back to the regular scheduled program here. LOL

I thought I'd return with another card using a sentiment from Verses Rubber Stamps.

This sentiment is a wonderful all around verse to use for many different reasons. Although I can see this verse used for the loss of someone. But I think you will find the perfect reason to use this verse on a card.

    A Year Filled with Joy

    Hello Everyone,

Oh so glad to see you again!!

I don't know about you but I think I am ready for fall. Now I can't complain about our summer this year. It's been one of the mildest I can ever remember and believe me I have been around for a lot of them. LOL I know a lot of people have/are experiencing a really hot summer and I really feel for you.Looking forward, for my area, the Old Farmers Almanac is calling for a colder than normal winter with a lot of precip, and they used that 4 letter word, snow. The nerve of some people!!! Last winter was a pretty good one but I bet we get slammed this year. Time will tell.

I guess I am looking forward to fall, look at the card I just made. Leaves and some fall-ish colors

I love this new sentiment I just received and it's perfect for a birthday card, don't you think.
The sentiment is from Verses Rubber Stamps and they have a huge array of  "Verses" to choose from.
Click here to check them out.

I used some beautiful DP on two of  the leaves and on the other one I used a copper colored CS.

That background paper is from a batch of Gelli Plate papers I made and saved. You will see them from time to time on some of my work.

Well this week I have a few outside appointments so I will be busy with other "stuff" but that will give me time to clear my head and re-energize my muse.

    The Butterfly

    Hi Everyone,
Have you played with the Color Burst that is out on the market?? Well I have a few times and last nite I played with a yellow and a blue color.

.But this time I used the Color Burst as ink.

I spritzed a mist of water on a butterfly stamp and tapped a blue and a yellow bit of the powders on the rubber stamp. Then I turned that stamp over and stamped it on white card stock.

Well I loved what I got.

I decided to fussy cut that butterfly out.
Next I decided to stamp this same butterfly image on a blank white card.
After doing that, I had a lot of white space staring at me, so I pulled out a new stencil and covered up that white space with a brick design.

My butterfly that I had fussy cut out, I attached it over the butterfly
that I stamped directly on the card front.

I had a die cut, a lattice flourish, just sitting on my table and I slid it behind/underneath the butterfly

Then, I saw a  die cut piece from  K&Co, so I added that.(Its positioned above the butterfly)It was already colored  and its colors complimented the colors I was using on the card so I was OK with this addition.

Lastly I took a dictionary page and copied it onto card stock and added the butterfly definition.

OK Let me share my card with you.

Well I am really loving that butterfly and how it came out. Hope this inspires you to use Color Burst.

    Thinking of You

Hello and welcome to my blog

Each month the designers at Craft-Dee BowZ are given a theme for our individual post.
This month the theme is to use stencils.

Sometimes I will experience the fact that my muse goes on strike. Can't think of anything. This was one of those times.
So I dug into my treasure trove of stencils and came up with a design of sorts.

First I wanted to add dimension to this card so I used Texture Paste from Ranger. At first I decided to color the paste a yellow color so I applied it over the stencil on the panel and dried it, Then I found  I wanted a deeper color so I colored the image the orange color you see, used a Memento marker to change the color.

After the paste  was dry I decided the panel looked like it was lacking something.Too much white space. So I pulled another stencil and just used a sponge dauber to add ink over the stencil . This added more designs to the various areas, filling in those voids that were there on the panel.

Next I made some of my handmade flowers in an orange tone and punched out a few sprigs of foliage. I added those.

Next I added my bow, and of course I used my Craft-Dee BowZ tool. Te bow I made is a triple loop bow in a mint green. After that I added a sentiment on a tag and positioned that on the card and I am calling this one done.

Let me show you the texture on those large orange stenciled flowers

Don't be afraid to add texture to your card, Apply some texture paste over a stencil, kind of glop it on. When you pull that stencil off  it will give the design on your card a really great, raised effect.
    Go for it!! LOL
