Spring has Sprung

Hi Everyone
Since it's Thursday it's time to check out the Art Impressions Weekly challenge. This weeks theme is Spring Has Sprung. A few weeks ago the theme was Watercolor and ever since, I've been working on a project and this came to be. It really reminded me of spring and I decided to submit this card for this weeks theme, Spring has Sprung, since the window box is abloom with flowers.

I had finished this card had the photo taken and was editing it and I just thought it needed something so I added a bow and rephotographed the card and edited it. That helped finish it off. That brick background... it was an experiment that was I testing and it turned out pretty good. Also, one other tip, for those of you who use the Memento markers, they work extremely well for the Art Impressions watercolor technique.I figured they would since they are water based. So, no need to buy a different brand if that is all you have in your stash. On the window, I used the Memento Rich Cocoa marker and I am so pleased with the outcome.

Supplies Used:
Art Impressions Stamps - J3379 Watercolor Window, BB2061 Sm. Vine, AA3384 Tiny Vine, AA1366 Leaves, AA3017 Daisy Bunch
Markers - Marvy #83Bitterscotch,  96 Jungle Green, 15 Olive Green, 12 Grey, Memento Rich Cocoa
Cardstock - Orange, Dark Brown
Ribbon

Orange and colors in that family are the colors that you will be seeing frequently since Pantone has intro'd  Tangerine Tango as the color of the year. So you will be seeing oranges of all different hues in a lot of areas, fashion, home decor and crafting too.

Try to enter a card in the Art Impressions weekly challenge, you could be the next winner. Thanks for stopping in today.

Easter message

Welcome to Wednesday!!!

Do you believe it, this month is almost over and we are less than two weeks away from Easter!! I am so amazed at how fast time is going. Speaking of Easter, I have another Easter card for you. I love Easter lilies and I decided that I had to use this stamp for this Easter card, although I could use it after Easter as well.

OK check out that trellis looking light pink accent behind the lily, I made it using a Martha Stewart border punch. Yep I did and coming soon will be a pictorial how to. That darker pink panel was made using a Spellbinder M-bossibilities folder. That was one of the goodies that I won from Spellbinders back in January. I have to tell you that those folders are AWESOME.What a great idea, embossing designs on both sides of the folder. duh!!

Supplies used:
Art Impressions Stamps - Easter Lilies  L4022, Easter Message  F1420
Spellbinders Die - Crown Ovals S4-303
Spellbinders M-bossibilities folder - Nobility ES-002

Copic Markers- BV00, Y17, G21

Sparkle N Sprinkle Flower Child Blog Hop

Hi Everyone,
I have 2 posts today so if you are looking for my post showing my card based on the weekly Art Impressions Challenge, please scroll down to the next post.

Otherwise, thanks for joining the Flower Child Blog Hop today.

If you hopped here by way of Shanna's blog then you are in the right spot, however if not, you may want to start here at the beginning to become eligible for one of FIVE great prizes.

In keeping with today's theme Flower/Child I decided to use Sue in my card today and I think she is just perfect to represent a child. She is standing in her flower garden checking out the birds that have landed in her hands. Since we've had such a mild winter, a lot of the trees and flowers are already in bloom and spring was just celebrated on Tuesday March 20. So this card fits in perfectly with spring and flowers and birds. For the complete instructions in making this card, please click here.

This would make a great card celebrating a birthday or for no special reason as well.

Thank you for stopping in today and please remember, to become eligible for a prize  you  must comment on every blog on the hop. NOTE:  There are 2 grand prizes and 3 “random” prizes that are attached to 3 different designers blogs!

Just a reminder, the items on special at Sparkle N Sprinkle in March are:  Flowers – Children – Spanish and Artist Tom Jones, click here to check them out.

Next up on the blog hop is Angie's blog, she always has unique and fun things.

Just in case you get lost along the way:

Warmer Easter Wishes

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to Wednesday!!!  Have you been out getting the Easter candy?? Or maybe getting an Easter outfit?? I love all the soft pastels that are out at this time of the year.

I just got some new stamps from Art Impressions and since they are Easter themed, I will be showing these off in my next few Wednesday posts. Hope the cards inspire you and give you some great ideas.

This card is using a new set called Kate - set 4118. And this bunny is sooooo cute. the set even comes with a seperate little pinafore stamp as well. I stamped the rabbit on white cs and colored the rabbit with Copics. Next I stamped the little jacket part of the stamp on a small piece of designer paper and I stamped the dress part of the stamp on another designer paper. I trimmed the dress, jacket and the rabbit out and layered them all together. It was like playing with paper dolls. I remember how fun that was when I was a kid. Next, I added the matching bow in her hair, or should I say fur. Then I added the glitz. The background  I used is an embossing folder and I colored it with distress inks. Lastly I added a pastel yellow bow, punched a few corners and added the sentiment and the card is done.

Supplies used:
Kate set - 4118
Copic markers - E57, E71, R81
Cardstock/Paper - White CS, peachy pink cs, designer papers (3 different ones)
Embossing Folder - Sizzix
Spellbinders Die - Labels Sixteen  S4-301
Punch for corners
Inks - Versafine black, Distress inks scattered straw, victorian velvet
Ribbon

Tomorrow I will have 2 posts. I will have the card for next week's Art Impressions weekly challenge and I will have a post for the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog Hop. Please stop back for both posts I would love to see you again.

Pirates

Hi Everyone
Sparkle N Sprinkle has a few new pirate stamp sets that they've introduced recently and today I want to share a card using one of those sets. The set I used is called Treasure Hunt, set 458.

I know lots of little boys are into the pirate theme and these stamps would look great in a scrapbook or how about a cute card for the birthday boy. I can envision a pirate themed party and the invitations would be so cool done up in the pirate theme.

OK, so let me show you what I came up with using this great new set.

Click here for the instructions for this card. The template that is mentioned (Stairway Accordion Fold Template) is available here.

This card when folded will fit into a 6X6 envelope for mailing.

This is an easy card to construct and is so perfect for this set.

Thanks for stopping in today. See you soon,

Ahh..............water color scenes are so relaxing aren't they???  You should try this if you haven't yet. You will be amazed at the outcome you will get. I also suggest you purchase the How to Watercolor DVD. It is like you are having a one on one instruction. It really is a great help and a wonderful tool.

Cornish Heritage Farms

Hi Everyone

I've been itching to tell you all this for a few days and it's official now!!!! The Cornish Heritage Farm Design Team has been finalized and I am so excited and thrilled to have made it as a member of this team. This team is made up of a whole host of talented ladies!!!! I am also really excited that CHF is back and will soon be offering rubber stamps again.

Here are two cards I want to share with you today. These are two of the cards that I submitted to CHF.
The first one is a Thomas Kincade image and I colored this with Marvy Markers. This technique is very easy to do and the results are quite remarkable. The camera really doesn't do this justice. Also this card pic was taken with a green background in order to show off the trellis border of the card.

The second card is really a cutie. It consists of the Flower Wheelbarrow Digital Stamp (it a freebie over at the CHF site, so go download it!!) and since I had some stamp sets on hand from the original CHF days, I used the sentiment and the tree from a Kim Hughs set.

The first blog hop will take place in April and there will be prizes so stay tuned for more info about that in the coming weeks.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and letting me share my exciting news with you.

See you soon,

Ole MacDonald

Hi Everyone
Since it's Thursday, it's time for the Art Impressions weekly challenge. This weeks theme is Sparkle and Bling.

After using the Copic air brush system on the ribbon on the top of the card, the ribbon looks light and somewhat blotchy. For the ribbon used for the actual bow, I dragged it directly across the ink pad, and got a darker color, just what I wanted.I think the ribbon is just too porous to get the darker color I was after using the air brush. But it does look better in person.

I used the Copic air brush on the sentiment and that came out just as I wanted.
OK on to the stamp. I added glitter and some bling to the card to compliment these chicks.
These chicks are having a blast singing to Ole MacDonald.

Supplies Used:
Art Impressions Stamps - Chick Trio  U1876,  Ole MacDonald  J1896
Ink - Black VersaFine, Distress Ink Persimmon
Copic Markers used - Y11, R81, RV13, V04,V12, R29, YR09, YR68, YR65, YR15, E33, YG03
Card Stock - Orange/Yellow CS, Red CS, White CS
Glitter
Glue Pen
Rhinestones
Bow Maker - Craft-Dee BOWZ

My Liebster Award goes to

Hi Everyone,

I received the Liebster Award today from a dear friend Donna  over at Creative Smiles. Donna does amazing work. Please give her blog a visit and check her creations out. What a great surprise. Thanks so much Donna, I appreciate the award!!

What is the Liebster Award??

A Liebster Blog Award is given to talented bloggers who have less than 200 followers. “Liebster” is a German word that means “Dearest” or “Beloved.” It also means ” Favorite .” So, in a way the award not only recognizes these bloggers as amazingly gifted in their own right but also as your very own personal favorites.

The Rules Of The Liebster Award:
1) Thank the fellow blogger who awarded it to you.
2) Link back to the said blogger who shared the award.
3) Post the award on your blog.
4) Pick 5 other blogs you want to recognise.
5) Visit the 5 bloggers and let them know that they receive the award.

Now the hard part for me was to pick 5 people to bestow this award on. These people are gifted in my opinion and I visit their blogs quite often. I receive inspiration from their blogposts. So here they are my 5 picks for the Liebster Award:

Angie Blasingame - hopemore studio
Ginni Gass - ginni scrappy world
Wendy Price - paper ink and smiles
Karalee Ingram  - Karee's Cards and Crafts of Course
Jenny Johns - Jens Cup Of Creations

OK now it's time for me to leave comments on their blogs and to give Donna a big than you.

HUGS to all and I will see you soon

Jelly Beans

Hi Everyone,
It's Thursday and that means its time for the weekly challenge over at Art Impressions. I thought I'd share with you my take on this weeks challenge. The theme is: Inspired by Candy. At first I had a devil of a time coming up with something for this theme. But,as I thought about candy, the upcoming Easter holiday came to mind.  I remembered chocolate bunnies and then jelly beans came to mind and then I remembered when I was a kid I used to get hollowed out sugar eggs in my Easter basket. So, with those ideas in mind, here is what I came up with.

Supplies used:
Spellbinders Dies - Nested Eggs S4-264
Copic Markers - E25, E71
Embossing Powder - Sparkle N Sprinkle -  Shimmer EP137
Ribbon
Designer paper & various colors of card stock

I made the large egg to appear to be hollow with a chocolate bunny inside.  Those sugar eggs that I received as a child, were always decorated around the opening and they were always so cute.I used the shimmer EP to make the inside of the egg sparkle. I also colored the bunny using brown copic markers to make him look like chocolate. OK, now I have just awakened my sweet tooth, I guess I will have to get some jelly beans. Yum,Yum.
