Mini Album for May/June

Hi
And welcome back to my blog.

It's time for another challenge over at Mini Album Mania

The challenge will continue til June 15, so you have plenty of time to make a mini book/album and submit it.

I don't know about you but I love making albums and I'm always looking for a different album recipe LOL. Well I came upon this album recently and just had to make it. Its called the Pocket Page Mini Album.  I felt it fit the bill for the MAM DT I am on. So I made the album and I'm telling you it was easy to make and took very little time. I took pics of all the pages so you'd get a better idea as to what this cute piece looks like.

The inside of the album cover and
 the first page

Flipped to the next 2 pages
See those lines on the left page in that triangle area??
That's the flip side of the blue paper I used

Next 2 pages

This is the center of the album
and you can see that I sewed the pages with Bakers Twine
Easy peasy,  just 3 stitches
And all pages and book front and back are connected,
by sewing down the spine center

Last page and inside of the book cover

If you notice those white triangles on the pages,
that is a piece of white CS that you can pull out from the pocket
and add notes etc. You can also add pics or other memorabilia in the pocket area.
The floral pieces I added to each page was in my stash
and I have had them for eons.
They are Tim Holtz idea-ology Botanical Layers
The pages were made by using double sided 12X12 paper
one side is blue and the other side is lined with 3 or 4 colors.
For the cover and spine, I just used 120lb weight white CS.
I covered the front, back and insides with a paper
that coordinated with the blue on the pages.

I mentioned that this album was easy to make,
well here is a link to the site that has the instructions.
Hope you give it a try.

Don't forget, the Mini Album Mania challenge has begun. The challenge will continue til June 15, so you have plenty of time to make a mini book/album and submit it. I'd love to see what you create.

Til next time,

Happy Birthday

Hello and welcome to a new month and the new challenge over at Love To Scrap. This challenge goes til June 15 so there is plenty of time to get your project made and submitted.

Here is my DT project for this challenge.

This card is a great card design to use a scrap piece you might have laying around. And I have tons of scraps, don't you!!

This card is a bit small 4 X 5.5 (I generally make 5X7 sized cards.) but I love the simple look.

I cut straight lines every 1/2 inch  parallel to the sides. My lines start and end at 5/8" in from top and from the bottom.

Next, I cut strips from scrap paper, 1/2" wide and about 6 " long. I wove the strips thru the cut slits and positioned them on a diagonal basis. I just added a dot of adhesive to the strip ends. Oh and I trimmed the strips that were hanging off the edge of the card.

The sentiment is from a set by Forever in Time - Birthday Wishes.

As I mentioned earlier the Love To Scrap challenge has begun and will be running til June15. So you have plenty of time to make a project and submit it.  I would love to see your project.

I hope I have inspired you and I will be back soon with another project.

Merry Christmas

 Hi All

Welcome back to the latest challenge at Merry Little Christmas Challenge

This is a great challenge for all you Christmas card lovers who make Christmas cards the year round.

The Merry Little Christmas Challenge goes til June 15 which gives you plenty of time to enter your card into the challenge. Also great place to get some more inspiration.

This card is fairly simple to make.

The How To:

  • I started out with a 6X6 white card base.
  • Next I cut a 5 3/4"X 5 3/4" layer out of shimmery dark blue CS and attached on the card front base.
  • Next layer is white CS again. Cut it 5 1/2"X 5 1/2" square. Now find  the center on each of the 4 sides and position a border punch so that the center of the punch area is on the center of each of the sides of the white CS layer . Punch that out. Do on all 4 sides. This will leave a white area on the 4 corners not punched.
  • Those 4 corners  on my CS are 1 1/2" square.  I cut 4 square pieces 1 3/8" out of that dark blue CS and using a plain snowflake punch, I punched a snowflake in the center of each of those 4 small squares. Attach each of the squares with the snowflake shape punched out, over the white corners you will have a slight white border.
  • You will now have a 3" white square in the center, Cut 2 2 7/8" square out of the dark blue CS and attach that over the white center.
  • I stamped and fussy cut my kitty image, colored it and popped it up in the center on top of the dark blue square
  • I added the sentiment and some glitter and the card is finished
What I used:
  • Christmas Kitten and Mouse - Creative Vision (I did not use the mouse)
  • Sentiment - Woodware - Christmas Strips
  • Copic Markers
  • Martha Stewart Border punch - Snowflake Trim
  • Martha Stewart Punch - Medium Alpine Snowflake
  • White CS
  • Shimmer Dark Blue CS
  • Glitter
  • Memento Ink - Nautical Blue
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you will give this look a try.
Please remember the Merry Little Christmas Challenge has begun. The challenge will continue til June 15, so you have plenty of time to make a Christmas card/project and submit it. I'd love to see your creation.

See you soon

Sending a Smile

 Hi There

WOW May 1 already!!! Time flies doesn't it!!!  It's also time for the beginning of the new challenge at Birthstone Challenges The challenge will go til June 15, so you will have plenty of time to create and get your project entered.

We'd love for you to join in the fun, you have plenty of time to make a project and enter it in the challenge. The challenge goes thru June 15.  Let me share my DT project for Anything Goes with Emerald and/or Pearl colors and the optional Wedding/Anniversary/Engagement theme.

The How To:

  • My card base is a white 5X7 card.
  • The emerald green CS layer is cut at 4 3/4 X 6 3/4
  • I embossed it using a Spellbinders March 2024 embossing folder. I attached the layer to the card front.
  • Next I cut 2 trellis looking pieces using green shimmery CS. I attached those on opposite corners of the card on top of the emerald green CS
  • Using Asters dies and stamps I cut the flowers and stamped and cut the leaves. I arranged the flowers and leaves onto the card front over that trellis looking area,
  • For the flower centers I used a golden yellow marker and glued I used Flower Soft over
  • Stamped and cut and attached the sentiment
What I used:
  • Delicate Asters Dies - Heartfelt Creations
  • Bold Delicate Asters Stamps - Heartfelt Creations
  • Flower Soft
  • Mixed Media Tim Holtz Thinlits Dies - Sizzix
  • Sentiment - Floral Wreath - Gina Marie Designs
  • Memento Ink - Northern Pine

Another Birthday Card for You

Hello and welcome to a new month and the new challenge over at Love To Scrap. This challenge goes til April 15 so there is plenty of time to get your project made and submitted.

Here is my DT project for this challenge.

Well I don't know about you but I use lots of saved things on my cards and this card is no exception. If it didn't make it on one card, chances are it will get used on a card in he future. LOL The center stamped image and the sentiment are from Spellbinders BetterPress Letterpress system. And I really love this system. The plates get inked up and then I ran it thru my Big Shot machine. The plates deboss the paper and leave a super crisp image that you can then color. I used some watercolor to color the image.  Those swirl flower and leaves in the corners, they are from a tile that I got at Dollar Tree. I used part of the tile and had these left over so I put them in my scrap box. Well, when I made this card I needed something for the corners and I liked the way these looked on the card  and they were the right size so I used them.

As I mentioned earlier the Love To Scrap challenge has begun and will be running til April 15. So you have plenty of time to make a project and submit it.  I would love to see your project.

I hope I have inspired you and I will be back soon with another project.

Merry Christmas

Hello and lets welcome the month of March. March is the month that introduces spring, so, we all have warmer weather to look forward to.

I know we are getting ready for spring but for all you card makers that make Christmas cards the year round, just letting you know we have a great challenge for you. The Merry Little Christmas Challenge goes til April 15. Plenty of time to enter your card into the challenge. Also great place to get some more inspiration.

The stamp is from Woodware and I love the Woodward line. Especially from the artist Francoise Read.
I have quite a few sets from this artist and love them all. I added some glitter on the swirls and lightly colored the mama deer and her Baby Deer.
To add some accent I used gold CS and glitter paper. I also used a deckle edge scissors to trim the edges of the top layer.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Please remember the Mini Album Mania challenge has begun. The challenge will continue til April 15, so you have plenty of time to make a Christmas card/project and submit it.

See you soon

Happy Birthday

Welcome back and I am hoping that spring is coming fast. We've had chilly weather in my area and it is not my fav, but it could be worse, I know.

As we usher in March, it's also time for the beginning of the new challenge at Birthstone Challenges. We'd love for you to join in the fun, you have plenty of time to make a project and enter it in the challenge. The challenge goes thru April 15.  Let me share my DT project for Anything Goes with Aquamarine & Diamond colors and the optional Birthday theme.

The DP, the swirly leaves and the Happy Birthday sentiment die cut are all from Heartfelt Creations. I made the flowers using punches and shaped the petals using the McGill Paper Blossoms Tools. I added glitter to the flower centers. This card is a 6X6.

I hope you enjoyed the card and it gave you some inspiration for your next card.
Thanks for stopping by and I'll be seeing you next time.

Travel - Mini Album Mania

Hi Everyone and WOW it's March. Spring will be here in a few weeks and I know we all are waiting on it with baited breath. LOL

It's also time for the Mini Album Mania challenge. The challenge will continue til April 15, so you have plenty of time to make a mini book/album and submit it.

I happened upon a cool lil album that is fun to make and pretty easy to do. Its known as a Blizzard Book. Here is a link to a video (no sound)  for a visual tutorial https://www.pinterest.com/pin/210684088811952581/

I added a cover and each page has a pull out

This album measures about 2 3/4" X 6".  Each page has a pull out piece that gives you the opportunity to write notes etc. so each page has room for notes etc. This is perfect for a weekend trip and you can also use this design for grocery lists and a whole host of other things.

Front of album

Since my theme is travel, I used a map for my paper
that became the pages for this album
I inserted CS sheets on each page for notes.
They are held onto the page  by sliding between the triangles on the pages.

I added to stamped images to some of the pages in keeping with the travel theme.

Here is a pic of 2 pages with the CS sheets for notes removed.
You can see more of the map paper that I used.

This album is so quick to make up. I made the pages in less than 15 minutes.
I added the cover and adorned the pages all in less than a half hour.
Another thing is the only places that I used glue
was to attach the cover and the ephemera to the pages.
The pages themselves are not glued, just folded
to achieve a 4 page album. Check out the link for the tutorial https://www.pinterest.com/pin/210684088811952581/
You won't believe how easy this is and that there is no adhesive used to make the pages.

I hope you give this mini album a try. It is really quick to make. (Took me longer to decide on the theme and paper to use than it did to make the album)

Don't forget, the Mini Album Mania challenge has begun. The challenge will continue til April 15, so you have plenty of time to make a mini book/album and submit it. I'd love to see what you create.

Til next time

Dream Big

Whoo Hoo!!!  2024 has arrived, do you believe it!!  January is here  and 2023 just flew by. The first Birthstone Challenge for the year has started. Since birthstone colors don't change from one year to the next, an optional theme has ben added. The optional theme for this challenge is New Beginnings. (New job, new home, new baby etc). The birthstone colors are still.

Click here to check out the optional themes for the remainder of the year.

With the theme of New Beginnings I immediately thought of a new baby.

And I used the amethyst color (its my birthstone color) This card was so much fun to make. Hope you enjoy it.

Supplies I used:
Stamps - My Sentiments Exactly - Baby Caps (Old set)
Dies - Spellbinders - ovals; Impression Obsession - Baby Bib and Onesie; Sentiment - unknown
CS - White CS, Purple CS, DP
Ink - Memento
Miscellaneous - Heart Shaped paper clip, Purple Glitter

I hope to see a project that you submit in the Birthstone Challenges

Thanks for stopping in today and I will be back soon.

Have a Nice Day

Hello and welcome to 2024.

It's time for the first challenge of the year at Love To Scrap Challenge. For this challenge I usually go thru all my leftover bits and pieces that weren't quite right for other projects and use them on a card/project that I make for the Love To Scrap Challenge.

For me, its fun as I go thru a whole bunch of stuff I have saved and come up with a card to share with you all.

That big pink oval was calling to me and then I spied a smaller oval cut from DP in the pink family and it worked well with the large oval. The stamped bird had a pinkish colored flower and that seemed to fit with the pink colors I was looking at and then I spied a fence just waiting for something to sit on it. My background DP has pink in it, so, it all works well together (IMHO)

Well if you are like me, you save lots of things. So go thru them and make a card. and submit it here at the Love To Scrap Challenge. I know I'd love to see what you have made.

Thanks so much for stopping in today to see my project!!

I will be back soon

T'was The Night Before Christmas

 Hi Everyone,

Welcome to 2024 !!!!!!  Hope your Christmas was a great one. I know Christmas is over but I am always looking for something for the next Christmas challenge over at the Merry Little Christmas Challenge blog. And the Merry Little Christmas challenges are always Christmas themed so if you like to make Christmas cards all year long, this challenge is right up your alley. The January/February challenge has begun so, let me share with you my card for this challenge.

Different looking cards always catch my eye and this one sure did. Easy to do. My mom always added....." if you know how." LOL

Here is the front view

Here is a side view

I seem to gravitate  to fun fold cards, and this card is no exception. When folded flat, it easily fits into a 5X7 envie.

Below are pic's showing another card (in blue) I made this card and took pic's in case you want to follow along as I show you how to cut and assemble the card.
The card base is 7X7 - scored at 1 1/2" and 3"
Add your layers to these 3 sections. (I know you are able to figure what your layer sizes should be, so I won't address those sizes.)

Cut and attach the layer pieces to the card base.

Next you will need 3 strips and they are  8" X 1.25 " scored at 1.5" and 3" (scored on the long side). Cut and add your layers to the strips.

Attach the first strip to the top far right side of the card. Glue the far right scored area of the strip, lining it up with the far right edge of the card. After attaching the top strip, attach the bottom strip next  and then attach the center strip. Doing it this way gives you the ability to center that middle strip. You want to make sure that the strips are just attached to the far right of the card base.

Flip all 3 strips all the way to the right, as shown above, close the card, folding the left side flap down and

then that small scored area back on to itself (on the card base) so the card will look as if its closed.
Now flip those strip areas that are not glued down, flipping them over on top of the folded card front. Just glue the area that the strip is touching. Do this to all 3 of the strips.

Next

The stamped image base is 3X5 with a layered colored CS
and then the stamped image is on a 2 5/8 X 3 7/8 layer.

When attaching the image base to the card, make sure you only add adhesive  in the middle, the top and bottom of the stamped image base otherwise the card will not open.

This card will fit in a 5X7 envie

This card makes a statement as it is pulled from the envie. (IMHO) and the card stands up on its own as well.
Since this card does not open like a conventional card, you will want to add the sentiment and any personal message that you normally put inside the card, add that to the back of the card.

Hope you were able to follow along.

Supplies I used:
Stamp - Verses (wood mounted) Santa - old and still available. (This is my all time favorite Santa stamp)
Ink - Memento  Black
Paper - White CS, Red CS, DP
Sentiment (on red card)- From my computer

This card design will lend itself to any season so I hope you will try it out I think you will like making it.
Thanks for stopping in and I look forward to seeing one of your cards in the Christmas challenge.

I will be back soon.

Butterflies - Mini Album Mania

Happy New Year!!! and welcome to 2024 and it's time for the Mini Album Mania challenge

I decided to make a small (mini) album and for me this is really small.(LOL) I usually make 6"X 6" or larger albums so this was an interesting project (size wise) to say the least! LOL

This mini album was really easy to make and after I made the base, I wondered what to use for the theme. Since I have made lots of Christmas cards for my consignment places, I decided on a different theme..... butterflies. I am rushing spring, hahaha.

Let me share my project pics.

This mini album (folded) is 3 1/2 X 3 1/2
I added a belly band and added
a pretty butterfly to it as a focal point

The mini with the belly band removed

The mini fully opened

The mini fully opened but
flipped over to show other side

There are spots for small tags and some journaling and small pics in each of the squares.

All the DP's are from the Heartfelt Creations Floral Butterfly Collection

For the base, I used one 12 X 12 sheet of black CS
Each square is 3 1/2  and I added a 1/4" between the squares to accommodate
the folded squares and a few added items.

Hope you enjoyed this and hope you have a Happy New Year.

I will see you soon
