Just Fluttering By

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for stopping in today.  The Design Team's theme for Julyhas been tags with flowers, but I tweeked my project a tad and added the flowers to the card, not to the tag.

Let me show you.why

I designed my card with a vellum pocket that is the perfect tag holder. That vellum pocket has flowers in one corner area.

The vellum pocket lets the tag and the stamped images show thru with a gentle softness.

The tag is perfect for a bookmark.

My Bow was made using the Craft-Dee BowZ tool. It makes bow making so easy!!!
Have you submitted a project to the challenge this month? You still have a few days to get one in. You never know, you could be our next winner.

Merry Christmas to All

Hello Everyone,
I know, I have been missing in action for a while and I am so sorry. I have been really busy and the time just slipped away.

Let me show you a card  I just made using a new die from Memory Box. It's not a fancy card because
I decided to just emboss the image into the card stock instead of cutting it out.
This is a kind of a prototype card. Just seeing how this would turn out if I did it this way, vs. cutting the image out and using the die cut..

I applied white ink to the red card stock to make it appear to be like a blackboard, or should I say a redboard. Next using a glue pen I traced the words and the flourishes and covered that with silver glitter.
I added a white snowflake to the panel about half way down and there are 2 holly leaves towards the bottom. I  used Wink of Luna, green to color those leaves in.

To finish, I matted the red panel with a silver paper and mounted that on a yellow card stock.

I used a red pleated organdy ribbon and attached it with a single white snowflake brad to hold the ribbon in place.

Sideways Step Card

Hi Everyone

I am back with some dimensions for the card that I presented in my last post.I still don't know what it is called, I have looked and looked so I am going to name it the sideways step card. LOL  It reminds me of the center step cards on its side, with some modifications of course.LOL

This is going to be a long post as I took pictures and added labels to aid you in making this cool card.I hope my visuals are not confusing.

This card will fold flat into a 5" x 7" card and should fit right into an envelope. Open, the card stands on its own and should display nicely.

You will need to start off with a 7 1/2" X 7" panel, (I used my MS score tool to make my score lines).
Dotted lines are your score lines

Both cut lines are cut starting at 1 1/4" in  from the sides and run parallel to the 7 1/2" side.
The cut lines start 1 1/4" from the top and the bottom edges.(Cut lines are highlighted in red for a better visual image)

Now you will want to add the score lines
With the 7 1/2" side across the top of your score tool, start on the left side of the card, score from the top cut line to the bottom cut line.
The next score line will be scored 1 1/4" over from the 1st score line again scoring from the top cut line to the bottom cut line.

Next you will score the smaller lines at the other end of the cut lines.
Score from the top edge to the end of the card to the top cut line on the other end.
The bottom score line will start at the end of the bottom cut line and score down to the edge of the card.

The 2nd small score line will be 1 1/4" left of the 1st small score line.
Again starting at the top of the card scoring down to the cut line.
The 2nd bottom score line will start 1 1/4" left of the 1st score line and score down to the edge of the card.

All of the cuts and scores are done, now let me show the folds

Now its time to decorate this creative folded card.

The dimensions I've given above will allow the card to fit into a envelope for a 5"X7" card

Here is my finished card.

Here are a few different views.
This card will stand on it's own. I love that feature.
No sentiment on this card. I just wanted to show you how to cut and fold.

Beautiful

Hi Everyone,
Hope your holiday weekend is nice. I know some are experiencing some bad weather, lots of rain and hurricane weather. Hopefully that will die off soon.

In the meantime, I would like to share a card with you today. I have no idea what this design is called and it's pretty easy to make and for the life of me, I have no clue where I got the dimensions from. I may have got it off of Pinterest, I will have to look there.

Anyhoo.......... here it is.  I like these kind of foldy, foldy cards.

The card stands up on it's own and is just a panel cut in parallel lines and scored and folded
Hope you can see that from the pictures. And wouldn't you know it, I stamped  the sentiment on crooked.Just my luck.

Here is another view (Yep that sentiment is crooked)

And finally a view with this card, flat.

This card is about 5.5" square, next I am going to try to make one that fits in a 5"X7" envie.
If I am successful I will post and give the dimensions.

A Tag of Flowers

Thanks for stopping in today and welcome to July.

Do you believe it,  July 1!!! WOW. I stopped in to Staples to pick up a new planner and it was chocked full of back to school stuff. That's when it hit me that school will be back in session before long. Seems like summer is just getting started.

Over at Craft-Dee BowZ their July challenge has started and this is my inspiration project. The challenge theme is always Anything Goes with a Handmade Bow. The challenge runs for the whole month, so you have plenty of time  to get a project made and submitted.

Here is a a tag I made to share with you and I added a triple loop bow to set this off. This tag will look great hanging on a gift , won't it!!

Here is a close-up of my bow. It's a triple loop bow and using the Craft-Dee BowZ makes making a bow, so easy!!!

Take a peek at the embossed dots that surround the stamped hollyhock sprig in the pic.below. You won't believe how I was able to get the embossed dots exactly where I wanted them to appear. No I didn't go thru the task of making a template out of chipboard, cutting out the image and then placing that template over the embossing folder. That is a great way to get the effect but that takes a lot of time then I would need to save it for a future use.

Here is how easy it is to get this look.
I slid my stamped oval into the embossing folder and used a rubber mallet to select just where those dots will appear and hit that area with the mallet. It was fun to smack that embossing folder with the mallet and I love the fact that you can pick and choose where the embossed design is to show up on the card stock. This way is quick and easy and the only thing to save is the rubber mallet.

I took that picture before I finished adding more hollyhock die cuts to finish the tag..

Check out that green vine ribbon. I have some plastic washer-like embellishments in my stash and I just slid them onto the ribbon and the leaves keep them from sliding off. What a fun and interesting look.

Before I leave you today, just a reminder, over at Craft-Dee BowZ the July theme for the designers' posts is Tags and Flowers, so, come by each Tuesday and you will be treated to wonderful tag creations. I sure hope you can join Craft-Dee BowZ blog for great inspiration throughout the month.
