A Gift Tag

Happy New Year!!!

WOW!! Do you believe it!!! it's 2025. The past year has flown by hasn't it!!!

I am so happy that you stopped in today.

Let me share my first 2025 make for the Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog

I want to share the Christmas tag I made that was a hit with a lot of my friends.

OK this tag is really all about that tree.

I have seen the tree on Pinterest so I just had to make one. And after I made the tree as shown on line, it looked kinda thin for my project. I wanted it to be more dimensional. So I made more and layered them.

So I started out with a 2 1/2" square and this turned out to the right size for my tag (this tag is about an A-2 size). And the paper I used was plain ole copy paper. I wanted to use the copy paper since it was able to be manipulated better than CS. I used 6 squares to make the tree. You can use more or less but I felt this was perfect for my design.

Next I colored these with a green ink and I was not very precise in my coloring. I did add color on both sides. On the opposite side I just ran the color down the diagonal center. No you don't need to do this.

Next I folded that square down the diagonal center. Make sure to have the colored side on the outside of the fold.

After the dimensional fold, you will start the cuts. I made 7 cuts. but you can use 6 if you prefer.  Do not snip to the fold. Leave a little room.

As you can see I made 7 cuts, do not cut thru all the way thru the fold, just up to, with a small area not cut into. .

Now its time to make the tree shape. Open the square and you will work vertically from bottom to top up the diagonal fold. Add glue to the bottom right strip on the edge and bend it down to the center just over the crease  that is going down the center of the square.

Glue the tip of the left piece and place it on the center over 1st strip you just placed.

Keep placing the cut strips down the center, alternating between the right and the left til you get to the last strip. I just added glue to the tip of these strips I trimmed the top to be more in line with the size of the tree shape.

With all 6 squares finished, add glue down the center of the bottom of what will be the tree (the first tree piece), fold the next piece you will use, down the center, and place it over that line of glue.

Below is a pic of the tree with 2 glued together

Continue on adding the other pieces, gluing and layering one on top of the next til you get all the layers placed.

Looks like its done. I think this is full and looks like a tree (3D of course)

I added a brown piece on the bottom to look like the tree stump and the tree was attached to the tag.

This is a cute tree and I had a great time making this. And its easy and really looks great!!!
I belong to a stamping/craft club that meets 1X a month, and each year for our December meeting we are to bring a tag for each of the members as well as 1 card. This is the tag that I gave everyone this year.

Happy New Year, welcome to 2025 and thanks for visiting my blog!!!

Time flies doesn't it. Well looks like it's time for the next challenge over at the Love To Scrap Challenge blog. I know that Christmas is over, however, I know that some of you all enter Christmas challenges throughout the year so I thought I'd make my card with a Christmas theme. And since the challenge mentions the word scrap, I try to use scraps on my project. (And boy do I have a lot of scraps. LOL)

This card came about because I saw a stamp that I really liked but since I couldn't get it in time for Christmas, I decided to make a freehand rendition of the stamped image.

I used scraps of various DP's from my stash to create the tree. I like to think of it as a paper pieced tree.

I cut the pieces to look like the stamp that I saw online and mounted the DP pieces onto black CS and trimmed the black CS in the shape of the tree (triangle).

Next I layered the tree onto gold DP CS and trimmed that as well.

Next I used a stencil to add some interest on the right side of the white CS layer.

I attached the tree to the white card layer and then added the white card layer to the red card base.
I added a stump and the gold star at the top.

I had a few holly leaves sitting on my desk and thought they would look great on the left of the tree. I added 3 flat back red pearls to accent the holly leaves.

Next, I stamped the sentiment onto white CS, fussy cut  that, and layered that onto the green CS and attached the sentiment to the card top area.

Well that is it for this card. I love how it turned out. I will be making this card for my 2025 Christmas cards that I send out.

Hope this gives you some inspiration and hope you will try this one out.

Thanks for stopping by and I will see you soon.
