Happy Birthday

WOW, can you believe it!! We've just started a new month. And that means there's a new Birthstone challenge starting today, (July 1). The challenge runs July 1 thru August 15.

The Birthstone Challenge is a color challenge blog welcoming all types of handmade projects such as cards, scrapbook layouts, ATCs, mixed media, altered items, 3-D projects, etc. using the featured birthstone colors.

There are two birthstone colors featured in each challenge and those colors must be the main colors seen in the gallery. You're required to use only one of the colors in each of your projects, however, you may use both if you want. A monochrome color pallet would be wonderful but not required.

Here are the colors for the July/August challenge

JULY/AUGUST
July 1st thru August 15th

For my project I decided to use the ruby color and I thought my card would be perfect for a July birthday!!

I made this card kind of simple. Ruby red cardstock for the card base. White CS for some of the die cuts and ruby red CS for the sentiment die cut and the aster flower in the center.

Sometimes simple is better. Quick and easy but definitely makes a statement.

Products I used:

CS - Ruby, White
Dies - Heartfelt Creations - Delicate Asters; French Courtyard
Misc. - White Flatback Pearl

I am submitting my project in the following challenges:

Thanks for stopping in today and I will be back soon. Hope to see you then

Wishing You a Blessed Christmas

Hello and welcome to July 1.

The new challenge has begun over at the Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog. The challenge runs July 1 thru August 15. Plenty of time for you to make a Christmas project and get it submitted it to the challenge. The Merry Little Christmas Challenge is an all-crafts Christmas challenge blog and welcomes any and all kinds of handmade Christmas creations all year long.

I love Christmas and making cards for that season is really a joy, especially if you are not in a rush. So,  the more Christmas cards I make now, the fewer I will need to make at Christmastime. (LOL)

I perused all my Christmas stamps and this pretty bird caught my eye. Its from an old set from a company that is sadly no longer around, My Sentiments Exactly (MSE).

I added a gold frame but it looked kind of plain to me, so I added embossed swirls to give more interest.

To carry that Christmas theme onto the frame I added holly and some flowers, (poinsettias of course. LOL)

I colored the bird with Inktense pencils and water to soften the colors and  used Straedler Triplus Fineliners to add accents to the colors. The sentiment is part of the stamp set I used.

Products I used:
Stamps - My Sentiments Exactly - Blessed Christmas; Heartfelt Creations Christmas Poinsettia & Holly stamps dies and shaping mold
CS - Red, Green, White, Gold
Inks - VersaMark; VersaFine - Nocturne; Memento - Northern Pine
Misc.- Flat Backed Pearls Red & Gold; Gold Embossing Powder; Swirl Embossing Folder; Water Brush; Inktense Pencils; Staedler triplus fineliner,

I am submitting my project to the following challenges:
Hope you enjoyed my creation. I am looking forward to seeing one of your Christmas projects in the challenge submissions.

Thanks it for now. See you soon,

Flowers

Hello and welcome to my blog.

It's July 1 and it's almost time to celebrate the July 4th holiday.  WOW where does the time go???!!

It's also time for the new challenge over at Love To Scrap. The challenge starts today (July 1)  and goes til August 15. Love To Scrap is a fun challenge blog and welcomes all types of scrapped projects - cards, scrapbook layouts, ATCs, mixed media, altered items, 3-D projects, etc. - using bits of new or leftover stuff.  And we all have leftover stuff don't we?? LOL

Well let me share my Design Team inspiration project with you.

I have a lot of scraps and saved items sitting on my table, just waiting to be used. I made those flowers a while back and didn't use them all then, so they were waiting for me to use in this project. Same for the gold leaves. I used leftover white CS strips and gold and white CS to make the layered  circles. This is a 5X7 top folding card. This card is a real looker IMHO

I stamped the sentiment on white CS circular die cut piece and adhered it directly under the circle on the front on the card.

Here is what I used to make my card:

  • Sentiment - Hero Arts Things We Love
  • White CS
  • Dark Green CS
  • Gold CS
  • Memento Ink - Northern Pine
  • Flowers & Leaves - Heartfelt Creations Stamps and Dies - Small Wild Rose ; Leafy Accents
I am submitting my card in the following challenges:
Well I hope you enjoyed this card. I would love to see one of your cards in the challenge. Thanks much for stopping by, see ya soon.
