Today I want to share a card I made for my monthly club. We meet each month and we have a challenge item that we are given and it is up to the individual members to come up with a card/project using that item and bring it to the next meeting.
Last month we were given a few die cut butterflies, cut from black CS.
Well since foiling is so big right now I decided to use 2 butterflies and foil them,
but foil them two different ways.
but foil them two different ways.
This butterfly was foiled using a glue pen, I added the glue all over the butterfly and I then laid the pink foil over the butterfly and mushed ( that word is one of my Barbara-ism words... LOL) the foil down on top of the butterfly. I made sure to push with a little force and then I pulled the foil up and presto - it was foiled. Easy peasy
I liked the fact that it wasn't foiled all over - it looks kind of distressed. Just the way I wanted it.
OK, for the smaller butterfly I decided to use my laminator and a Heidi Swapp toner pen.
The laminator I have is electric and has 2 heat settings and I ordered it off Amazon and only paid $20.00 plus shipping. What a bargain.
I used the HS toner pen and applied the toner over the butterfly . Since the toner is black and the butterfly is black CS, it was somewhat hard to see if I had toner over the majority of the butterfly.I placed a gold foil sheet on this butterfly and then fed it into the laminator
Here is what I got.
Again a distressed look and that's what I wanted. That laminator works great. BTW, I used a Heidi Swapp transfer folder to feed the butterfly thru the machine. Works like a champ.
Here is the completed card
I cut the front panel and used white paint and sponged it over stencils to make the interesting background, My strips on the side and bottom of the panel are from a watercolor paper piece I made a long time ago using various sprays.
I just cut the water color paper into strips and laid them over the panel.
The Stamp is a two step stamp from Rubbernecker.

I'm here from Try it on Tuesday and had never heard of either of these techniques. I enjoyed learning about both and, although they were both different, both butterflies are truly lovely. And of course, nothing says nature better than butterflies. Your card is so charming.
What a fantastic project! Thank you for joining us at Try It On Tuesday!
Thank you so much for sharing your project and entering our challenge at Craft Your Passion Challenges.

Beautiful butterflies Barb! Thanks for sharing how you did them. Lots of eye candy on this card. The flower image is stunning too.
What a beautiful card. I love the flowers you stamped on the card and adore those butterflies. I have never tried foiling as I always though one needed a heat machine and a printer that used toner ink. Both of which I don't own. But I might be able to try some glue and get a similar look. So thanks so much for sharing. Will any glue pen work? I have a couple in my stash.
A fantastic piece, thank you for sharing it with us at TioT's this time.

I love your butterflies. I have never tried working with foil. I will have to give it a try one of these days. I have been doing a class once a month at my local scrapbook store. I will have to try doing a challenge like this someday. I always enjoy seeing your work. It is always so pretty. Thanks for the inspiration.
