The Snowman

 Welcome back to my post.

It's time for the next challenge over at the Merry Little Christmas Challenge. This challenge is an all-things-Christmas challenge blog, welcoming any and all kinds of handmade Christmas creations all year long!

The challenge runs from May 1 to June 15. That gives you plenty of time to get your project entered in. More playing guidelines here.

I decided to use a cute snowman for my project. So let me share my project with you

He is a cutie, isn't he!!!

Let me share with you some info
Card Base CS - Med./Dark Blue
Card front
  • Top Layer - White CS
  • Background - I cut 1" squares and positioned them diagonally. As you can see I did not cover the whole layer. Also I left about 1/16" between the squares. The DP I used for all the squares does not match but is complimentary.
  • Snowflake Images - The snowflakes I used are various sizes and the main one is quite large (its an Accu-Cut die) so I just used a part of it (white CS) The smaller snowflakes are punched shapes and I used silver CS.
  • The stamped image is an older stamp. I colored it and added snowflakes using a silver pen.
  • I cut the stamped image using an oval die.
  • I cut another oval a little larger than the oval with the snowman. Used the same CS as the card base. Layered them and attached to the card front center.
  • Stamped the sentiment and trimmed it down into a rectangle. Made a slightly larger layer in the card base CS. Rounded the corners and then attached the sentiment and layered piece together and then attached to the upper corner of card
  • Attached the card layer to the card base.

OK let me show you the inside of the card.

I carried the snowflake theme over into the inside. Plenty of room on the left side to write a note.

Well that's it for now
I hope to see one of your submissions in this challenge

Thanks for stopping in and I hope to see you soon

Use those Scraps

 Hi Everyone

Welcome back to my post.

Time flies doesn't it. It's time again for the latest challenge over at Love To ScrapThis challenge blog welcomes all types of scrapped projects - cards, scrapbook layouts, ATCs, mixed media, altered items, 3-D projects, etc. - using bits of leftover items in your stash or new stuff! The challenge runs from May 1 to June 15. That gives you plenty of time to get your project entered in. More playing guidelines here.

You know I just seem to save every little bit of paper. Pathetic, I know, but seems to come in handy when making cards sometimes.

Well for this card I used a few things that were in my tray that contains things I couldn't/didn't use for some other project.

Lets check out the card

  • Working with the top layer I used a white layer and placed a yellow strip down the center.
  • The gold half circles started out as one gold circle. I embossed it and then cut in half. I also had a circle frame in black so I cut that in half as well.
  • I placed the gold half circles on either side of the strip and then added the black half circle frames on the other side of those gold halves.
  • Next  I placed a light green rectangle (CS) in the center between the circles.
  • I had a 2" square piece of designer paper and placed it corner to corner, over light green rectangle.
  • Last, using small scraps I used punches for the flowers, leaves and twigs. Added those diagonally to the card.
  • Found a sentiment, stamped and attached that and decided it was done.
  • Middle layer -I used a brownish layer
  • Card base - I used a pumpkin-ish color
  • BTW - This card is a 5"X7" (My favorite size)

Hope you enjoyed my project and maybe it will give you some ideas on how to use those saved things that are just hanging around. LOL

Well that's it for now
I hope to see one of your submissions in this challenge
