It's A Watercolor Weekend

Welcome back,

I have a few cards that I need to make and send off, Since I hadn't used my Art Impressions water color stamps lately, I decided to make a few different water color cards.

Over the next few days I will share the other cards that I will be sending off to their destinations.

I learned the technique of water coloring the Art Impressions way, many years ago. And it is a really fun and easy technique.

Years ago, the Marvy ink pads and markers were the inks to use but sadly those are no longer available. Yes I still have some of those in my stash (they have not dried out yet) but I wanted to test the Distress Ink pads and markers to see if they were a good substitute. I figured they would be and I was not disappointed.

Let my card me share my card -

Those gray stones at the bottom of the urn, I hand drew those in to give a little more interest to the bottom of the stamped image..

I just love doing this technique
Please  look for more water color cards this week.

Water Coloring the Art Impressions Way

    Hi Everyone,
Hope you are having a wonderful week. Here in the Greater Cincinnati area we've had 70 degree temps and 6/10" snow all within a few days time. Spring, please come and stay.

Last Saturday, I offered a a class at Simply Said Rubber Stamps, Water Color the Art Impressions Way. I had 8 in my class and we all had a great time.

I guided the ladies thru this easy technique, making 2 panels using 2 different stamp sets. We used stamps from Series 7 Set 1 on the 1st panel

    Here is my class sample

After that panel was completed we moved on to a second panel using Series 7 Set 2

Here  the class sample for the 2nd project panel.

The foliage from set 1 is also used when using set 2. Also to achieve the water color effect, water color paper is a must, card stock will bow.. Also the ink you use to stamp must be a water based dye ink. Waterproof or permanent ink will not let the ink move and soften. We used Distress Inks, Marvy Inks and Adirondack Inks. Tombows are also a great marker to use. And you can use markers or pads just make sure the ink is water based. Alcohol inks, pigment, and Memento inks will not work. There are probably other markers and ink pads that can be added to either list.

This was a fun class and the ladies did a fantastic job on their "water coloring the Art Impressions Way."

If you have never tried this technique, don't hesitate. It is really easy and the end result is really nice.

This weekend is my regular card class at Simply Said Rubber Stamps. I will be sharing those cards with you starting Sunday.

Spring is coming slowly, but it must be on the back of a turtle. LOL

    Have a great day

    Congratulations

    Hi Everyone,
It's graduation time again and I have the perfect stamp to use for the card for the grad in your life.

I used my school colors when I was designing this card.I also punched the corners just to add some interest to the card. Adding labels to the sentiment really makes it pop. Check here for the grad Cap - L2239  .

    Celebrate

    Hi Everyone
I am so glad you've stopped in today. I have a fun card to share with you. Today's theme over at the Art Impressions weekly challenge is a Circle Card. And on top of that, the postman delivered me some new Art Impressions stamps today, perfect timing!!! I knew what kind of a card I wanted to do and when I looked at the new stamps, I envisioned which stamps I thought would be perfect for that round card. I selected the Party Girls because of the balloons, it just fit with the round card theme.

    Here is the card opened

The girlfriends are having a blast and I just added some more balloons to add to the party look. I added bakers twine to the balloon bottoms so they could hold on to the balloons. LOL.  The sentiment is sitting on a tag cut from the Spellbinders Fancy Tags Die. I actually extended the die to allow the sentiment to fit. Also, since there is a large area of white space, I added my squiggles to that white background using a glue pen and covered that with Sparkling Snow Glitter. That just adds to the party atmosphere. LOL

Stamps - Art Impressions - Party Girl Set - 4131
    Glue Pen
Spellbinders Dies - Fancy Tags  S4-235, Grand Circles LF 114
    Copic Markers - E57, E33, E000,YR68, YR61, YR04, R29, RV13, RV14, BV000, V09, Y06, Y17, YG06, YG41,  100, C-5
    Bakers Twine
Card stock - Lt. Purple, Dk. Purple, White CS
    Ink - India In Black

Well hope you had fun at the party the girlfriends are hosting.

Have a great day, see you soon.

    It's Grill Out Time

    Hi Everyone,
Do you believe it, we just scooted into May. We are already done with 1/3 of the year. WOW!!!!!

A week from this Sunday is Mother's Day, and a lot of families are going to be cooking out. So here is a cute invitation to send out for this great party. And who else is the perfect couple to announce your great party than the BBQ Couple, and they always host a great grill party.

Since I don't have an apron die, I cut my own out of blue CS. When I added the gingham paper, I adhered it on the sides and the bottom, leaving a opening on the top for a pocket. Next I wanted to make the couple stand out so I adhered the couple to a label shape.I adhered the stamped image on the bottom half of the label and used pop dots on the top half of that stamped image.Next I just adhered the bottom half of the label to the gingham paper.  Behind the label shape is the invitation information for the BBQ party, tucked right into that pocket. What a cute party invitation and it fits into an A-2 size envelope.

Stop back tomorrow for my card based on the new theme for this weeks Art Impressions Weekly Challenge.

    Supplies used:
    Art Impressions Stamp -BBQ Couple
    Copic Markers - E51, E33, E000, O, C-0, R81, RV06, YG09, YG41, Y17, Y21, BG000

    Silver Gel Pen
    Brads
    Ribbon
    Spellbinders Label 17 S5-025

    Happy Birthday

    Hi Everyone
I did a very simple card for today's post. I made an A-2 card and cut an oval out of the front of the card. Next, and I've wanted to try this for a while, I stamped around the oval to give the appearance of a full lush wreath of sorts. Next I added a back to the inside of the card, and I stamped the sentiment. Lastly I added a few small vines to the sentiment area to finish it off. All of the stamps I used with the exception of the sentiment are in the watercolor area of the Art Impressions store.

    Supplies Used:
Art Impressions Stamps -  E597 Happy Birthday, BB2061 Sm Vine, AA1366 Leaves, AA3017 Daisy Bunch, AA1366 Leaves,  AA1368 Teeny Tiny Flowers, B3494 Twigs, AA3384 Tiny Vine, AA1283 Fern
Inks used- Distress Ink Gathered Twig, Adirondack Lettuce & Eggplant
    White CS

I love the fact that the Art Impressions water color foliage stamps can be used for some many different things besides scenes.

Well, have you entered you card in the Operation Write Home challenge, the challenge has been extended til Saturday evening, so you still have time. Click here to see the guidelines. We'd love to see your project and you have a great chance to win a prize.

    Welcome to Wednesday!!!

Do you believe it, this month is almost over and we are less than two weeks away from Easter!! I am so amazed at how fast time is going. Speaking of Easter, I have another Easter card for you. OK check out that trellis looking light pink accent behind the lily, I made it using a Martha Stewart border punch. Yep I did and coming soon will be a pictorial how to. That darker pink panel was made using a Spellbinder M-bossibilities folder. That was one of the goodies that I won from Spellbinders back in January. Warmer Easter Wishes

    Hi Everyone,
Welcome to Wednesday!!!  Have you been out getting the Easter candy?? Or maybe getting an Easter outfit?? I love all the soft pastels that are out at this time of the year.

I just got some new stamps from Art Impressions and since they are Easter themed, I will be showing these off in my next few Wednesday posts. Hope the cards inspire you and give you some great ideas.

This card is using a new set called Kate - set 4118. And this bunny is sooooo cute. the set even comes with a seperate little pinafore stamp as well. I stamped the rabbit on white cs and colored the rabbit with Copics. Next I stamped the little jacket part of the stamp on a small piece of designer paper and I stamped the dress part of the stamp on another designer paper. I trimmed the dress, jacket and the rabbit out and layered them all together. It was like playing with paper dolls. I remember how fun that was when I was a kid. Next, I added the matching bow in her hair, or should I say fur. Then I added the glitz. The background  I used is an embossing folder and I colored it with distress inks. Lastly I added a pastel yellow bow, punched a few corners and added the sentiment and the card is done.

    Supplies used:
    Kate set - 4118
    Copic markers - E57, E71, R81
Cardstock/Paper - White CS, peachy pink cs, designer papers (3 different ones)
    Embossing Folder - Sizzix
Spellbinders Die - Labels Sixteen  S4-301
    Punch for corners
Inks - Versafine black, Distress inks scattered straw, victorian velvet
    Ribbon

Tomorrow I will have 2 posts. I will have the card for next week's Art Impressions weekly challenge and I will have a post for the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog Hop. Please stop back for both posts I would love to see you again.

    Jelly Beans

    Hi Everyone,
It's Thursday and that means its time for the weekly challenge over at Art Impressions. I thought I'd share with you my take on this weeks challenge. The theme is: Inspired by Candy. At first I had a devil of a time coming up with something for this theme. But,as I thought about candy, the upcoming Easter holiday came to mind.  I remembered chocolate bunnies and then jelly beans came to mind and then I remembered when I was a kid I used to get hollowed out sugar eggs in my Easter basket. So, with those ideas in mind, here is what I came up with.

    Supplies used:
Spellbinders Dies - Nested Eggs S4-264
    Copic Markers - E25, E71
    Embossing Powder - Sparkle N Sprinkle -  Shimmer EP137
    Ribbon
Designer paper & various colors of card stock

I made the large egg to appear to be hollow with a chocolate bunny inside.  Those sugar eggs that I received as a child, were always decorated around the opening and they were always so cute.I used the shimmer EP to make the inside of the egg sparkle. I also colored the bunny using brown copic markers to make him look like chocolate. OK, now I have just awakened my sweet tooth, I guess I will have to get some jelly beans. Yum,Yum.
